Log 1: This isn’t the beginning, but it’s a start!

Most of life’s “good stuff” doesn’t just appear from thin air or magically happen over night. Gardening before the fruit. Working before the paycheck. Loving before the marriage. Dreaming before the adventure.

That’s where we float.

While this marks the first “log” for our (Chanell & Brendan)’s extended sailing trip aboard our 36 ft Bruce Roberts sailboat; a lot has led up to this. Within the last 6 months or so we have left our careers (that we really loved), moved out of our house, sold/donated (most) of our things, moved full time onto our sailboat, got married, finished school (for now), and refit our boat; with dreams to explore the Caribbean together.

Just under 50 miles south from our morning departure in Saint Augustine, Florida, is where we’re now at anchor ending Day 1. Due to weather, timing, and other variables, chose to motor down the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) instead of sailing down offshore. While it wasn’t the most exciting ride, it feels great to just get off the dock. We’re looking forward to starting this part of our journey, and sharing our story with you along the way.
